Rooftop tents are increasingly favored by self-driving enthusiasts because of their convenience and practicality. However, the correct installation method is the key to ensuring that the tent is stable and safe. Here are a few tips for installing a rooftop tent to help you complete the installation smoothly.

1. Choose a suitable roof rack

The rooftop tent needs to be installed on the roof rack, so it is crucial to choose a suitable rack. The rack should have the following characteristics:

- Load-bearing capacity: The rack must be able to withstand the weight of the rooftop tent and its contents.

- Special car: Choose a rack that matches your car model to ensure the stability of the installation.

- Separate: Separate racks are easy to install and remove.

- Clearance: There should be at least 3 cm of clearance between the rack and the roof to allow air circulation and prevent water accumulation.

2. Prepare installation tools

Before installing the rooftop tent, make sure you have all the necessary tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, ropes, etc. These tools will help you complete the installation process more easily.

3. Installation steps

3.1 Fix the tent

1. Lift the tent: Depending on the size and weight of the tent, it may require the cooperation of multiple people. Lift the tent and place it on the roof rack.
2. Adjust the position: Make sure the tent is symmetrical and the trunk can be opened normally.
3. Fix the components: Use U-shaped fixing components or other special fixings to firmly fix the tent on the rack. Make sure all fixings are tightened to prevent the tent from loosening during driving.

3.2 Set up the tent

1. Unfold the tent: Two people open the roof tent at the same time, vertically opposite each other, hold the two brackets respectively, and extend them 50% to both sides.
2. Place the tarpaulin: Place the tarpaulin in the middle of the bracket, align the four corners on the top with the corners of the bracket, and stick to the Velcro.
3. Fix the bracket: Continue to pull the bracket open, and the four spring buckles of each bracket are buckled in the square tube eyes that move up and down.
4. Pull out the inner tube: Pull out the four inner tubes of the foot plate, and automatically buckle them when they reach a certain height. Check and use them if there are no problems.

4. Inspection and testing

After installation, be sure to conduct a comprehensive inspection:

- Stability: Pull the ropes and brackets to check if there are any loose places.

- Waterproofness: Check whether the tent cloth is damaged or leaking to ensure the waterproof performance of the tent.

- Safety: Make sure that the tent is firmly positioned on the roof and will not move during driving.

5. Daily maintenance

In order to extend the service life of the roof tent, daily maintenance is also important:

- Cleaning: Clean the surface of the tent regularly to avoid dust and dirt accumulation.

- Maintenance: Check the various parts of the tent and replace them in time if they are damaged.

- Storage: When not in use, store the tent properly in a dry and ventilated place to avoid direct sunlight and humid environment.

With the above tips, you can easily install and use the roof tent, adding more fun and convenience to your self-driving tour.
